Baltimore County Police Chief to Speak at Electronic Security Expo

Esteemed law enforcement leader will kick-off ESX Industry Icebreaker Luncheon presentations

January 20, 2009 – The Electronic Security Expo (ESX) announced today that Baltimore County Police Chief, James Johnson, will be a featured speaker at the ESX Industry Icebreaker luncheon. The luncheon, scheduled for Tue., June 23 at 12:15 pm, will be held at the Baltimore Convention Center.

During his speech, Chief Johnson will explain his motivation for advocating legislation that encouraged broader deployment of video surveillance in Baltimore County shopping centers and detail his satisfaction with the program’s results to date. He will also discuss ways to foster collaboration between public safety and private security.

A 30-year veteran with the Baltimore County Police Department, Chief James Johnson holds the distinction as being one of only two people in the history of the agency who has worn every badge from Cadet to Chief. Chief Johnson holds a Masters Degree in Applied Behavioral Science from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Baltimore. He has been honored with various awards and citations including the Department’s second highest award, the Silver Star.

“ESX is honored to have Chief Johnson’s participation at the event. The Chief’s experience and understanding of the importance for expanding the use of video surveillance and increased collaboration between private security and law enforcement provide lessons we can all learn and apply for the public good in other locations,” stated George De Marco, the ESX Expo Chair

The luncheon will also feature the announcement of the Security Industry Alarm Coalition William N. Moody Award and the First Line of Defense Award. The Moody Award recognizes volunteers who have demonstrated exemplary leadership and dedication in this mission. The First Line of Defense Awards is presented annually by the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) to the company that goes above and beyond the call of duty to save lives and property.

ESX and a circle of affiliated meeting and activities hosted by CSAA, NBFAA and ESX media sponsors will take place from June 22 – 26, 2009. ESX features over 70 seminars and an expo floor with 200 electronic security manufactures and service providers. For complete ESX event details, please visit www.esxweb.com
