Pittsburgh Warms-up for Electronic Security Expo with G-20 Summit

Hot convention city gets practice hosting world leaders with meeting of global financial ministers, central banks and media.

September 21, 2009 – This week marks the opening of the 2009 G-20 Summit. The Summit hosts finance ministers, central bank governors and their staff from the European Union and 19 countries:

Argentina * Australia * Brazil * Canada * China * France * Germany * India * Indonesia * Italy * Japan * Mexico * Russia * Saudi Arabia * South Africa * South Korea * Turkey * United Kingdom * United States of America

In total, more than 5,000 are expected to visit Pittsburgh in conjunction with the G-20 Summit and over 19,500 room nights are booked in the city for the event.

Pittsburgh was chosen as the site of this important meeting, in part, because of its innovation and progress in reenergizing the city for growth.

Pittsburgh boasts over 100 billion-dollar companies headquartered in the city. Since 2003, employment from these companies in Pittsburgh has increased by ninety percent, compared to just twelve percent growth nationally.
