Less well known, but increasingly valued by members and industry professionals, are newer ESA groups that rally specific segments of the association’s membership to address common needs and interests. At the top of the list is ESA’s Young Security Professionals (YSPs). The YSP Council, led by chair Kerry Egan of Security Partners and vice chair Todd Gaito of Wayne Alarm, unites industry professionals age 25-45 to tackle issues like succession of leadership, embracing innovative business techniques and technology to enhance business operations, work/life balance and more. The YSP Kick-Off Reception at ESX will be held Monday evening, June 6, at the fabulously fun Strike City, a Charlotte bowling, billiards and entertainment facility. The YSP special session and breakfast on Tuesday morning, June 7, will feature renowned Wharton professor Stewart Friedman, an accomplished leader of a workshop series called “Total Leadership: Be a Better Leader, Have a Richer Life.” His book, Total Leadership, will be given to the first 50 registrants for the meeting. The ESA Video Technology Interest Group (VTIG) brings together ESA member integrators and suppliers to develop ways to grow the market for video surveillance and explore opportunities for recurring revenue around the video category. VTIG has been researching ways to replicate a video surveillance mandate put in place in Baltimore County, MD in other localities and other vertical markets. The group is also looking at ways to get ESA member companies better connected to municipal security projects and how to tie video in with alarm systems for enhanced verification and increased RMR. These and other topics are on the agenda for the VTIG meeting at ESX on Wednesday morning, June 8. Launched earlier this month, ESA’s new professional groups for Sales & Marketing and Installation & Service will organize industry specialists in each discipline to share best practices, network and learn from one another. Led by some of the industry’s brightest minds from leading companies, including ADS Security, ASG Security and Safety Technologies, Inc./Audio Video Interiors, these groups will host their inaugural meetings Wed. afternoon, June 8, at the ESXperience Stage on the ESX show floor. In addition to sounding member interest in various information and education products from ESA in each area, leaders will unveil the results of original member research studies that look at member utilization of various sales, marketing, installation and service practices and resources. ESA committees, councils and its board of directors will also meet to do business, analyze pressing issues and determine plans for future activities. Click here for the complete schedule.
