This has subsequently created a new, more profitable recurring revenue model. Recent major plays by security giants ADT (Pulse) and Vivint highlight the trend and provide clear leadership and inspiration to thousands of security installation and integration companies. Vivint, formally known as APX Alarm, exemplifies this trend as it is now evolving from a security mass-market installer to a home management mass installer. ESX will identify the opportunities and challenges in entering the home automation market and provide you with a clear understanding of the steps needed to make you successful. Here are some of the key programs. On Wednesday, June 8th from 10:45 - 11:45 AM, I will be moderating a seminar titled “Understanding New Residential Integrated Systems Platforms.” This session will look at the three major technology platforms enabling integrated security and home controls today: iControl, Alarm.com and Honeywell Total Connect. We will have a high-level representative from each platform on the panel to discuss the strengths, challenges, successes and lessons learned. They will also give us a look at their technology road maps for enhancement and improvement. A significant portion of the session will focus on the new recurring revenue models that are being generated as a result of the new features and services offered to end users. ADT is charging up to $100 per month for its Pulse package. APX/Vivint pioneered an $8/month energy management offer, which they bundled with their alarm monitoring services. Based on hosted applications with permissioned access to system features via the cloud, there is enormous potential for recurring revenue with home automation products and services. I will also recap this session in a much shorter format at the ESXperience Stage on the show floor the afternoon of the 8th at 3:30 PM. Another event that tackles the topic of home automation is the ESA Industry Luncheon & Annual Meeting, Thursday, Jun. 9th from 12:00 - 1:45 PM. This event presents new research and will cover the following:
The consumer insights and industry leader perspectives revealed during this session will be invaluable as you shape your company’s strategy for the evolving residential market. | |||||||
