Speaker Q&A: John Brady, TRG Associates

By  Hayley Zimmer
I  February 29, 2012
We talk to John Brady, President at TRG Associates and presenter of "The Other Side of Fire RMR" (June 27, 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM).

What's your background, and how did you get involved in the industry?
I began my career as a CPA and joined the Security Industry in 1987 as CFO of Securitylink - one of the first venture-backed acquisition vehicles to accumulate smaller security companies.

What trends are you seeing in the market making an impact on your
business?
Continued interest in our industry from those outside the industry as our economics continue to perform.

Tell us a little bit about the session you're presenting at ESX 2012.
I'm presenting "The Other Side of Fire RMR," where we will discuss the continued growth of fire service RMR opportunities. As many integrators know, the fire system installation and monitoring side of the business can deliver a steady stream of valuable RMR, but you may be leaving non-fire RMR on the table. This session will touch on other opportunities for RMR, such as full service life safety service and maintenance, defibrillators, emergency lighting, and hosted services for fire and industrial processes.

Why's the topic of your session important to the industry?
As the fire segment of our industry continues to be enhanced through local and state legislative action, we need to expand our vision of how to turn the opportunity into enhanced earnings.

What's your favorite ESX story or memory?
Watching exchanges of "real ideas" between veterans and newcomers of the industry - both participants learned from each other and took home practical ideas to implement and grow their businesses.

ESX will cover a host of topics in its leading education program. Its networking events will inspire and motivate your staff and its exhibitors will display cutting-edge technologies and services on the expo floor. Register your team for Deluxe Passes and get access to it all.
